Thanks, Melissa, for the warm welcome. It's good to know there are
families out there who are dealing with this smoothly. I was at my
grandson's house yesterday and learned to do the testing and the
injection giving (used saline) on myself. He told me how to do it
each step of the way. Great idea about the rocket! I'll let his mom
and dad know about it right away! Take care! Suzanne

Welcome to the list! I for one really enjoy seeing family members get
involved. We live five hours away from family so they only see our
son about twice a year, and only 2 people have even tried to learn
how to help. In case you have not seen my other posts, my son was
diagnosed 2 years ago, just after he turned 6. He also checks
himself. He used to do his shots, but now he will only get them
ready, not give them to himself. They seems to go through spurts of
how much they want to do. If your kids haven't gotten one already,
have them ask about a 'rocket'. You put the syringe in it, and then
simply push the button on the side and then the plunger. It helps
with those who have a problem with actually inserting the needle, and
my son won't take his shots without it! There are losts of helpful
people here, so please post anytime about anything! I am also working
on a link page, just a little short on time right now. :D
