yeah…thats what im basically aiming for, anything under
8…my first A1c was a 6.7 but it was a TOTAL pain in the
ass to achieve, many hypos and much much anxiety, it definitely
wasnt worth all the strife…i try not to let my levels go
past 180 throughout the day (a1c of 8), and its been working
for me, i feel a bit more “normal” in regards to my lifestyle,
and i dont have to worry about falling into the hypo zone of
madness..
thanks for the post and congrats on finishing that hellish
mcat, i know all about it, im a first yr med student at
brooklyn med..
where are you applying melissa?
hey everyone, just wondering (hope not too personal) if ya’ll
wouldnt mind sharing what your hba1cs have been like over the
years that you’ve had the big “D”…just out of curiosity, to
see if ive been doing real shitty compared to everyone else
(which is probably true, ha)…
thanks..
oh, and what do your endos suggest your hba1cs be at.
(realistically)
hey guys, just wanted to fill you in on a great website
ive been going to, which has given me TONS of support
on living with this lovely condition. its for young adults
primarily, but theres many 30-40 yr olds on the msg
boards as well…they talk about anything and everything
and its really easy to relate with the conversation and its
a real feel gooder…

Hello and welcome to the group. Glad to have you with us! Suzanne
ok, so i think i finally figured it out, or im in the
process of figuring out how to avoid hypoglycemia while
still maintaining good glucose levels. im on novolog insulin
which peaks after 2 hours and tapers off, but is still
working for another hour or so following the peak..total
of about 3…i was going hypoglycemic repeatedly during
hours 2-3, so instead of trying to have my 2 hour post
prandial at 120 or 130, i take a little less insulin
to get my 2 hour post prandial at about 160 or 170, and then
the glucose levels naturally start to go down cuz theres
still some insulin working in the 3 rd hour…and by the time
the insulin wears off, im at about 110. thats what happened
today at least, and i think it could work. its just a pain
sometime, cuz the insulin could still be working, and so
one must have a small snack to counter off the tapering
(more…)
hey brynn, welcome to the world of insulin dependence.
ha…its not so shabby, once you get adjusted. im
still in the process, being diagnosed just 7 months
ago…arent we lucky? tis ok though, its a good day and
age to become a diabetic, if there ever was a good time.
theres tons of promising things out there and coming
soon in the future, so just keep living as normal
and healthy as possible.
welcome once again…share anything on this list,
thoughts, experiences, emotions, facts, whatever and
whenever, we’re here….
peace. bassem
Well, not AWAY away, but the MCAT is this Sat., so I’m going to be
spending as much time as possible studying. So, you probably won’t
hear much from me till after the test. Have a good week everyone!
Melissa
