alcohol…
hey everyone, being 22 years of age, and still very much
into the nightlife, i was just wondering what everyones
take is on drinking alcohol…i have heard so many different
things from drink sugar free drinks and eat to avoid low
blood sugar, and also more conservatives like my father
who is a pharmacist who advises me not to drink at all..
how does alcohol play a role in your guys’s life.
id appreciate your feedback on this issue.

I am hoping someone can pop in with how many carbs are in alcohol, as
I am curious about this also. Sure would help if they put the
nutritional info on alcohol, huh? My guess is you shouldn’t drink (of
course) but everything in moderation. You need to still have a life.
Hope someone will have more info on this for you.

Here’s what I have in my carb book:
what how much gCHO
==== ======== ====
beer (lager) 12 oz. 13g
lite beer 12 oz. 5g
dry wine 3.5 oz. 3g
Dark beers are typically much higher in carbohydrates. Sweet, fruity
wines are also higher in carbs.
Sorry, that’s all that’s listed in my little book here. I think I can
find more info somewhere, if you’re interested.
You should know that the effect of alcohol on your liver can make it
slow to release sugar, which can make you more prone to hypoglycemia
for a while.
Personally, I sometimes have one or two beers, no more than once or
twice a week. Sometimes I won’t drink any alcohol for a month. I just
don’t think about it much.

Thanks for the info, Jerry. I am terrified about when my son hits his
teens LOL. And I had wondered why it would make your blood sugar low.
Thanks for the explaination!

Hi, Bassem! Just a thought….when someone is depressed, alcohol can
make it worse because alcohol is a depressant. Might consider going
for an antidepressant instead??? Take care! Suzanne
