<description>Unfortunately, I know all about the finger stick as thier 'test' for
diabetes. I have MS, and it is very common for us to have
hypoglycemia symptoms. I went for many years telling my doc to check
me for diabetes, and they just did they finger stick. But now that I
know better, I insist on an hba1c. Seems to help convince them when
you sound like you know what you're talking about LOL. Sorry to hear
about your dad. :-(

<description>And that's what the doctors should do, too, Melissa. But what they
will do is a quick finger stick test, and if the blood sugar comes
out normal, they say there's no problem. They call that "screening
for diabetes."
I've been a type 1 diabetic for 28 years, but my father was recently
diagnose as borderline type 2. He had gotten a physical a month
before the diagnosis, and they had told him he had been screened for
diabetes. His eye doctor found retinal damage a few weeks later.
