the pump…decisions decisions
hey everyone, type 1 diabetic here of 9 months, wooohooo…
currently im vacationing in egypt, so im in a MUCH better mood than
ive been…must be the tropical climate and rum and diets
but ive been slightly depressed i suppose since diagnosis…however
im trying to get more positive…i just got approved and my insurance
agreed to pay in full for the paradigm insulin pump..im having a lot
of anxiety in thinking about being attached to it, but its comforting
to know that i can switch back and forth with my lantus and novolog
regime…my endo informed me of this and it made me feel a lot better
in making the decision to get the pump…im going to start using it
once i go back to the states..
my control overall is good…although slipping, my first hba1cs
were 6.7 and 6.4, and that was total hell achieving so now ive become
a more “realistic” diabetic and im happy if my levels stay under 200.
im not too unhappy being a diabetic, per say, i normally just have
psycho anxiety over hypoing, but im working on conquering my fears
for this…im planning on joining a lil therapy session before i head
back out to med school…i was a med student, but then i got
diagnosed, so i bounced
hehe…
anyways, just felt like sharing part of my story…i guess the most
important thing, in the face of all this diabetic madness, is to
remain positive, and be patient and know that things, will in the near
future, get better for all of us…
its good to have hope..i believe that, at least..
peace from the middle east…im gonna go have a couple more
rum and diets and check out the red sea, the corals are beautiful!!!

Hi, Bassem,
I’ve been on a pump (Paradigm) since May 10th. I think you’ll quickly
get used to it, and the things that worried you before you got it
will seem insignificant after a while.
