to the pumpers…ahhh anxiety in the bedroom
hey everyone, kind of a funny/embarrasing question but i dont
where else or who else to ask it too…this is mainly directed
to the insulin pumpers on this board..im starting insulin
pump therapy on monday, the paradigm, and im developing some
major anxiety on what to do with the pump in scenarious of
sexual activity…im 22 and i live in new york city, so as
amoral as this may sound, hehe, not all of my sexual encounters
are involved in a relationship, and i just dont know how im
supposed to go about this issue…while being in the heat
of the moment, and im supposed to be like, “excuse me while
i disconnect…” or if im at a club and i get felt up and
my tubing gets caught in his hand. haaa, i know these scenarious
seem a bit ridiculous for some of you, but for me and my crazy
22 yr old manhatten life, theyre all but very realistic
any suggestions, advice??????????????????

Hmm, this is what I don’t get. Why is disconnecting from the pump or
having to move the tubing out of the way a big deal? If you’re not
embarrassed by anything else that’s going on, you shouldn’t be
embarrassed about your pump.
I think after you have the pump for a while, this self-consciousness
about it will go away.

it is my self-conciousness about the whole pumping attachment
issue which i know ill get over eventually, you’re absolutely right,
im an anxiety freak who builds up each issue to the extreme, but im
truly hoping it wont be a big deal. i start pumping on july 10, so
the countdown to the paradigm is on!
thanks for the advice jerry. you’re right….sorry for my callow
perpective, i just get jittery like that
