Exercise study for Adolescents with Type 2 Diabetes
Minority adolescents suffering with type 2 Diabetes need your help!
Diabetes affects so many people that it is now classified as an
epidemic. To the individuals who suffer from it, the disease
increases the probability of complications such as problems with the
eyes, kidneys, and nerves as wells as increased blood pressure, heart
attacks and amputations. Minorities are at a higher risk of
developing the disease. At the moment more children are being
diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. There is a study being conducted at
York College in Jamaica Queens, attempting to help afflicted
adolescents get better control of their diabetes. The details of
the study are as follows:
Purpose:
To study the effects of an exercise program on sugar metabolism,
body weigth, body fat and fitness level in adolescents with diabetes.
Compensation:
Participants will receive $100, in addition to Subway Metro Cards
for travel, personal exercise trainers, body composition and fitness
level analysis.
Who is eligible:
Male and female adolescents who are 12 to 18 years old and
diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Participation requirements:
Exercise 3 times per week for 10 weeks, and 2 physical exams.
