Rene,
Thanks, I'll call them.
I guess we have to know more about diabetes before they can get on the pump. I think they want you to have diabetes for a few years first before they let you go on that.
Benita

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. In time things will begin to look up. I receive a catalog from ADA - American Diabetes Society and I know I have seen a lot of children's book in there. I'm sure you can go on their web site or call them and they'll send you a catalogue. I'm on an insulin pump and in time you may want to consider that for your son. But first things first you just have to keep trying new things and as someone said use your son as a guinea pig. It just takes time and education to learn things you need to know. Good luck and keep in touch.

Angela,
Thanks! I feel lucky that I picked up on Bryan's symptoms right away. Since he's home and we're homeschooling, I knew right away he was going to the bathroom a lot and drinking and eating and I noticed he was getting thinner. I knew these were signs of diabetes so I took his urine in right away for a sugar test and sure enough, he had it. A real shock. It was all a real flurry of activities at first and very overwhelming! But things are calming down now and we know how to feed him, etc. I don't know what else I need to know! I just want to keep reading, ordering more and more books!
Does anyone have any books they highly recommend?
Benita

All of us have to remember that we are only human, and some things we just aren't in control of. It's sad things like this happen to our children. I know any of us would take their place if we could, but we cant... so we just strive forward and do the best we can.
If you have any questions or need anyone to talk to, feel free to email me. I'd

Benita,
Your welcome... It has been a long road for me and my daughter Theresa, I have 2 other daughters, a son, and I'm pregnant. After her diagnosis I went through hell and back.... sometime I will have to take the time to email you my story, but today I just have a million and one things to do, so maybe in the next few days, and believe me, it will both touch and motivate you beyond everything.

       Talk soon & Blessed be!

Thanks so much Angela! That's what I needed to hear!! I'll work on getting the Pink Panther book!
Benita

Best of luck, and dont torment yourself. One thing I had to learn is you can get diabetes under control, and then not be able to control it at all. Anything & Everything can trigger #'s up and down. So take it one day at a time. Best of luck!
