Pump expenses
Hi, I’m hoping someone here can help me. My son is going to go on
the pump in a couple of weeks. We have the pump and what should be,
I suppose, a month’s worth of supplies. The problem is, we have to
sign up for my husband’s insurance before we actually start using the
pump. We’d like to sign up for an account where we can put away pre-
tax dollars to pay for my son’s prescriptions. We’ll have to pay $20
plus 20% of each prescription, not to exceed $50 per prescription.
Can anyone who’s pumping give me an idea of how much we might spend
on pumping supplies per month? Thanks in advance for any help you
can give.

Yes,
The answer to this question is going to involve a lot of things,
some of which you won’t know until your son starts using his
pump. Like how often he will change his infusion set. I’ve talked
to people who do it every two days and others who only do it
once a week.
Different people use different infusion sets. Some people use
different adhesives.
