Also, thanks for the tip about the pasta. I will have to play around with that. It's not something I eat often but I'd like the flexibility to do so.

Pizza also makes my son go really high, because of the high fat. Plus potatoes and any kind of pasta. So, just be on the look out for high fat foods. You can still eat them but just give yourself a shot of a low amt of insulin maybe. Ask the Dr. what they think. Good luck!

Thanks Benita My doctor wants to talk to me about a pump so I'm just trying to
collect info on how it works. I figured it might be as simple as the 22/24
calculation. Also, thanks for the tip about the pasta. I will have to play
around with that. It's not something I eat often but I'd like the flexibility
to do so.

I think it means it's .9 units each hour that you're supposed to get. You take the 22 and divide it by the hours in a day so that comes down to .9

Benita

If I'm on 22 units of Lantus a day - what would that make my basal rate be?

We're using Novalog and it's only that. Bryan has a basal rate of only .1 so he's on a 40 carb to 1 unit ratio.
Benita

what kind of insulin does the pump use...I am currently on Lantus and Novolog...but my sugars are out of control and I am looking to try something new...
