Thanks for the replies. In my mind, I would believe that such a
device would probably be uncomfortable and not highly accurate.
We can wish for such a non-intrusive test, though, can’t we?
Thanks

I can’t believe I just joined a diabetes group

Sunday, November 9th, 2003

My 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes one week
ago. And I am mad, I’m upset, I’m falling apart. Everyone keeps
telling me it could be so much worse. Duh! I know that. But am I
supposed to thank God that He only gave my daughter this disease over
a much worse one. Yes, I know this can be managed. Yes, I know I
could have been given a much worse diagnoses. Yes, I know they could
have told me my daughter had cancer and that there was nothing they
could do. Then I would be in the position of not being able to help
my daughter. I know with diabetes it can be controlled. I know my
daughter can live a “normal” life. But I am not happy about it. Why
does everyone think I should jump for joy because it’s not something
worse. I don’t want to do this everyday. Most of all I don’t want
my daughter to have to do this for the rest of her life. Everyone
thinks we are handling this so well. Well then, we need to go to
Hollywood because we are great actresses. We are not handling it. We

New to this forum - Help Needed

Saturday, November 8th, 2003

Hello, I am new to this forum. My wife is a type I, has been for
over 25 years. Basically, she’s okay. Her doctor calls her her best
patient. She really works hard to take care of herself.
Here is my question:
I saw the movie Panic Room the other day. In the movie, a diabetic
teenager wears a sort of wrist-watch that constantly monitors and
displays her blood sugar. What a wonderful device.
My question: Does it exist? I truly don’t think so since all the
latest research that I can find wants an actual blood sample to give
a reading. This watch device clearly didn’t do that. I thought it
was a (clever) device to show the blood sugar level to the audience
without having to talk about it. This would be a great product for
diabetics, but since I can’t find it anywhere, I believe this was
just some Hollywood tomfoolery.
Does anyone know?

This Wonderful Product From The Sea May Help You

Thursday, November 6th, 2003

Good Morning Everyone,
My friend has Diabetes and has been greatly helped by Royal Tongan
Limu (sea plant nectar juice that helps to regulate your blood
sugar). He had a blood sugar level reading of 24 and after 1 month
on this juice, his reading has come down to a 12. He is so happy to
save his legs from possible amputation. He knows that 12 is still a
very high reading but it is a far cry from 24.
My husband and I take Royal Tongan Limu for overall health (me for
my allergies - no more antihistamine pills for over a year! I am so
grateful that I can enjoy the outdoors now.)
If you want more information, please email us or call toll-free 1-
866-701-5492 and we will get back to you.
To your continued good health…
Regards,
Joanne

The following is an e-mail I just sent to my endo a few minutes ago. I usually
e-mail her every thursday and she gets right back to me so I expect I’ll hear
from her later today or tomorrow. It’s a little long but if anyone else has
some feedback for me I’d greatly appreciate it.

Pre-pump

Saturday, November 1st, 2003

I spoke to my son’s endo office, and wanted to see if this is what
you all had to go through to get on the pump. The first thing is that
they make them go on Multiple Daily injections for 4-6 months! This
seems excessive to me. Then after you get your pump you use it with
saline for a week, then go to the hosp overnight to det the basals. I
get all of it except the 4-6 months. That just seems really long to
me, I could understand 4-6 weeks. Plus, these are kids, I would think
having to take so many shots per day might deter alot of them from
getting the pump. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
