New to Groups Mom of 2 type1 kids
Hello: My name is Trish. I am the mother of 2 children Missy
{turns 18 in 2 weeks} She was diognost on her 9th birthday. My son
Steven age 15 was diognost at age 3yrs. They are both on the pump.
We have really enjoyed the pump now for about 3 years. It has let
mom [me] let go alittle. It gives the kids alot more freedom from
have to stick so close to a schedual. They are very active in
sports, marching band, 4H, FFA, ect…. We have never let diabetes
limit them. It was never an excuse to get out of anything. I have
a question for you all. Do you or your familys have any other auto
immune desease? I ask because I want to know if this runs in
familys. My husband was diognost with MS 3 years ago. And Missy
has a condition called Alopecia. She lost all her body hair. It
took a few years started in patches then a couple of years ago all
of it went. Like she says she doen’t have to shave under her arms
or her legs and gets to sleep longer in the morning doesn’t have to
do her hair. lol . Well I just wanted to say hi and introduce
myself. I would love to answer and questions about kids and
diabetes that I can. We have always been very involved with our
local support group, camps and ski camps. Just had a sledding,
pizza party last Saturday.
