Hello, new to group!

I’m joining because my fiancee is a type 1 diabetic and has been
since he was 3 (he is now 35). I do not know much at all about this
disease other than it can lead to future problems if not controlled
and he doesn’t like anybody to fuss over him, ask about it, worry
about it or about him. I most often act as if nothing is different
with him in that regard because I truly do not know much about it
although I’ve been reading more and more. I found this group because
I really need to educate myself and I don’t want him to feel I’m
being judgemental when I do question his health or how he is feeling
(he often works very long hours and doesn’t eat properly at all -
needless to say I do actually worry about him quite a bit). He uses
the insulin pump, keeps his level relatively normal (I think-he
claims he can just tell from how he feels) and has very little
problems other than his sight is horrrible and he seems to be
fatigued/tired often. He does not exercise (and maybe is only about

20 pounds over weight)as he works almost 12-14 hrs/day and he eats
mainly fast food/resturant food unless I cook which isn’t often
(weekends and maybe a few times a week) as I too work long hours.
I just wanted to introduce myself and why I am here. I am a 35 yr
old female and very much in love with this man. I am fairly healthy -
I exercise (and no, I can’t get him to join me) I want to have him
around for as long as possible and if I can make changes in the way
that we live that can in turn help his future and present/future
health, I hope to do that. I also have many questions but will not
ask at this point - I will read through old postings/answers first
because I know it gets old re-writing the same thing over and over. I
am wondering though, with both our ages and his diabetes - our plan
is to have children in the future (a few years) can this disease be
easily passed to our children (from him) and will/does this disease
cause infertility problems in men? He has spoken to me about how it
can/may lead to possible sexual problems in the far future but that
is about it.
Thank you and I look forward to getting to know the group.
