another scary foot thing

Friday, March 19th, 2004

Hi…
In the past few days I have noticed that when I go out for a walk, my feet get
numb. My shoes and socks are both in good condition, and I’m not walking
further or longer than usual when it happens.
Has anyone else experienced this?

now what? scary foot thing…

Thursday, March 18th, 2004

I walked today…about four miles, around one of the local lakes. When I came
home and took my shoes off my sock was all bloody. The tip of my toe looks like
maybe it got squished against another toe’s nail. Still bleeding a bit. But I
didn’t ever feel *anything* and that is kind of scaring me. My shoes aren’t
too new or too old…
Should I ease off the walking until I can talk to my doc about it?

feeling low when you’re not

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

For the past few days I’ve felt like my sugars are low, all the time. Almost
all the time I’ve been well over 100, occassionally in the low 200’s. Yet I
feel shaky and a little out of it. Does this happen to anyone else?

new diabetic 1 on insulin

Tuesday, March 16th, 2004

Hi: I am new to this site. Hope I do this right. I have been type2
diabetic for 18 years, taking metformin, avania, glybride, and
prandase, I am so depressed. Yesterday went to specialist, who gave
me insulin prescription to start me. I drove past drugstore because
i couldnt stop crying. I am in denial. In March I had two stents
inserted in main heart artery. I have to buy a blood pressure
machine to test BP twice daily. I am 48F, am under alot of stress
raising 5 year old grandson since he was 6 weeks old. Am always
tired, and lots of depression. I try to be happy around grand so he
doesnt pick up on my problems but I am sure he does pick up some. I
am over weight. Linda M

Hi! I’m new here at this group and it seems like you have members are
professionals and knowledgeable. I was wondering to see if anyone in
this group has “personal experience” in senior life settlement. I
have been researching the Internet about it. It seems OK to me but I
figured, before I commit, I need to talk to someone with personal
experience in senior life settlement.
There is a company here in Idaho, Progressive-Life.com, who buys
different kinds of life insurance policies. I am thinking about
selling my life insurance policy to them to pay for medical expenses
and to leave something to my family (just in case). I don’t want to
do mortgage our house ’cause I don’t want to leave my love ones with
bills in the event I pass away. They are offering more than the
accelerated benefits my insurance carrier is offering me. Personally,
and based on what I have seen so far, I think senior life settlement
is good for me BUT I need a second opinion from someone who really

small positive…

Sunday, March 14th, 2004

When I struggle so much with this disease, I take small positives as wonderful
thoughts. My newest one is this: I finally found a positive to figuring out
every carb I put in my mouth. When I am pulling 20 grapes off the stems, I can
pick the best looking ones. Like I said…small, yet huge.

now what?

Saturday, March 13th, 2004

I went for a walk today (2 miles!). Before I left I was 103 and had a snack
with carbs and protein. Now, two hours later I am 250 with a trace of ketones.
I have a mild cold…
Do I wait to take some insulin, even with the ketones or do I take some insulin
and risk bottoming out later? Or I could cut my normal sliding scale in half.
Ideas anyone?

post exercise lows

Wednesday, March 10th, 2004

I went for a mile long walk. Checked my sugar before, during and after. At
dinner I took half my usual insulin dose, yet I suddenly dropped to 49. Why is
it that you can be low so long after exersise?
