Problem getting in control

I’ve had type 1 for 23 years…and it’s starting to take its toll,
I’m afraid. But that’s not the Q.
I have lost a lot of weight, not to Ally McBeal proportion, but I
was once a size 9, now I’m a 3. Most of my weight, unfortunately, is
in the stomach area. Nevertheless, my blood sugars are usually
between 100 and 250…Once in a great while, after eating too much,
it’s higher. I do have a lot of lows in the morning. I’m on Lantus
at night and then Humalog when I do eat. Which isn’t that often. I’m
always snacking, but no substantial meals.
I work at JC Penney and I’ve talked to my boss about this before,
but she keeps reverting to the same horrible schedules so I miss
meals. I work 3:30 to 9 or 10 to 3:30, no lunch. I don’t even get a
15-minute break because no one will cover for me. (I work in shoes
and the other associates know nothing about it so they won’t even
try). I know that’s one reason my blood sugar is always so messed

up.
Also, does anyone else have a prob with circulation? My right hand
gets ice cold when I’m typing on the computer, like now, or when I
wash the dishes, my fingers get the needles and pins sensation as
soon as I make contact with the H2O. My doc doesn’t know what’s up,
so he just brushes it off.
Can anyone offer any tips/suggestions/info? Thanks!!!!

    Brandie,

I would try getting a note from your doctor for your boss. I had a job once where I was in the same situation as you are. Legally, they can’t do that to you. Threaten to bring the Americans With Disabilities Act down on them. I had to do this periodically….it would work for a while then my boss and I would start over. I eventually quit.

The only reasonable answer I can give is to take along snacks that
will not go bad in a bag. Excuss yourself and go back behind and
eat, return and keep going with what you were doing.
If you boss, tries to put a stop to it, request you be given time to
    eat when necessary.
Most that could happen is they fire you and you then have a case
    against them.
I myself would not let them stop me. Your health is going down hill
as the weight loss is probably due to the high sugars and lack of
    food.
I agree with one of the other posters, talk to your doctor and get
something written that will make them give you the time needed. I am
surprised that your doctor is not questioning your weight loss.
