I believe we are primarily all either type 1 ourselves or some how related to or friends of a type 1. Congratulations on the 37 years. I’ve been T1 for 27, myself, diagnosed at age 5. Welcome to the group!!

    Judith–
You are a hero! I was diagnosed at age 12, in 1965, so next year will be 40
for me. As that song says, “We are the champions…” They told me back then
that I’d get “20-25 good years” IF I took really good care of myself. Living
    well
IS the best revenge, eh? Or, in our case, living at all! Us long-term lifers
    are a
unique, special group–survivors, people who have had to be couragous, self-
controlled, self-sacrificing, self-reliant and ever vigilant. In my case (and I
know a few others who agree on this), it has also made me the person I grew
up to be, gave me my most important personality traits–a perfectionistic
obsessive-compulsive, an eternal, unreasonable optimist, and a deeply
    spiritual seeker of Truth.
Not necessarily looking for another hobby… yet!
