14,000 calories a day!!
Hi, I was just curious if anyone watched VH-1’s “Totally Obsessed” show
tonight?
They had a piece on about a woman who’s goal is to weigh 600 pounds.
She eats around 14,000 calories a day. And her husband supports her.
They say at the rate she’s going she will reach her goal in 2 years.
She’s about 350 now.
If you want to see a pic, go to www.VH-1.com and search shows for
“Totally Obsessed”
They have a picture gallery and her pic is number 14 out of 15 pictures.
On the program she showed off the sexy way she’s dressing now. SHe says
the bigger she gets, the more like a woman she feels.
Her doctor has advised her that this weight obsession is not a good thing.
I guess this is the opposite of anorexia.
I can understand if nature made you a certain way, but to do something
like this seems foolish to me.
I am glad that she is happy with her size, everyone should feel good
about themselves no matter what they weigh, but to eat that much
everyday just seems so insane to me.
peace,
DJ

I believe the intent of this forum is to discuss T1 diabetes. If you wish to discuss politics, I am sure there are several groups that would be a more appropriate place.

On the other lists that I posted this on, people focused on the fact that this
woman is eating FOURTEEN THOUSAND CALORIES A DAY!!!!!On this list, I expected to
generate conversation about how unhealthy that is & the problems she’s setting
herself up for. Instead, some bama person attacks me for my sig file, which
features quotes from our president.
Doesn’t anyone here think it’s strange this woman eats so much & doesn’t care
about the health consequences?
Or is my sig file to big an obstacle to overcome?

Ahhh, I see the issue. I think the problem may be that the 14K calories per day is only loosely related to diabetes, more so T2 than T1. I did not get that post, just the one where somebody asked you not to discuss politics. My apologies.
Yes, that lady truly IS setting herself up for problems. Unfortunately, some people have such a need for attention that they don’t care what damage they are doing to themselves. I can’t even begin to imagine consuming 14K calories in one day. When I was still growing, the dietician only had me on about 2500 per day (back before the days of carb counting, for those of you who don’t know what I mean). Maybe some of us just found the concept too amazingly disgusting to discuss. (Just a guess. It is that or not many of us are on line right now.)
As for signature files, hey, I figure that is like somebody wearing a T shirt with a saying I don’t agree with. I’m in America. They have a right to their opinion. If I don’t like it, I have a choice: I can express my own opinion or look the other way. In this forum, I tend to look the other way. (I must say, though, some of you have some truly amazing quotes! Some inspirational, some insightful, some just plain funny!)

Hi Stacy, yes I have read your post. I didn’t mean this last one to
sound argumetive…just trying to explain why I don’t feel my sig file
means I am discussing politics. I just think ‘W’ says some amusing
things. I am sure there’s a lot of people who disagree.
I knew when I sent the original post that it wasn’t Type 1 related, but
still thought it would be interesting since I beleive everyone on this
list deals with health & eating issues. I thought after all the
disagrement over ’suffering’ from diabetes that this issue was something
where we all could say what in the world is she thinking?
I won’t be posting anything but Type 1 diabetes related stuff in the
future, if I post at all.

DJ,
Hey, I was at the middle of that whole mess yesterday. Thanks for taking some of the heat off! Don’t let this one bad experience keep you from posting here. You can’t make everybody happy all of the time. Like you said, that is just your sig file, not something you’re putting up for discussion. I don’t know why it was taken the wrong way. Unfortunately, in a public forum, that can happen. BTW-I read the info you included about the kidney transplants. God bless you! I hope you are doing well with the current kidney! Take care!!

Well Judith, I don’t mean to bring another non diabetes related post to
the list, but someone on my weight watchers list went to the VH-1 site &
read the message boards about this lady. Apparently it has something to
do with a deviant behavior called feedism. I didn’t even know it
existed but it seems to be a big thing in some circles.
I would say more but figure I’m in enough hot water with this list right
now.
