I wanna give up! I hate this! :-(

I know I dont post alot here, but Im a lurker and I read alot & I
learn alot.
Being a type 1 diabetic isnt the easiest thing in the world as you
all know. But Im so darn frustrated I dont wanna do this anymore.
Sounds like a brat huh?
After speaking to my PCP, he thought it was a great idea for me to
get on the Insulin Pump (which he wears as well) and he sent me home
with a video/information from minimed. (www.minimed.com)…I had
pretty much already knew that I wanted on this Insulin pump, and the
video/information just confirmed it.
After sending in all my insurance info (they do the leg work on
that), I got a call from them, telling of what is covered by my
insurance and what isnt covered…I dont have the $1,600.00 which is
my part. So I kindly thanked her for her time and efforts on
my “case” and she told me they even have financing. I thanked her

again and let her know that I CANNOT finance a Pump or anything
right now, and hung up. I was in tears. I cannot afford that, ever.
My first reaction is to throw away all my Humalog and give up…Ive
had enough of this diabetes *stuff*, Im very frustrated. Im tiref of
giving myself shots and Im tired of watching what I eat/counting
carbs all the freakin time! Ive been sick with worry the last few
days, and I decided to come here and vent, so thank you for allowing
me to do that. Im sorry.
If my insurance would just cover my medically necessary gastric
bypass surgery, then they wouldnt have to pay my diabetic supplies
each month, and I wouldnt either…it rids the diabetes 99.9% of the
time. (Ive fought them for 3 yrs now, with appeals and denials…)
Oh well…..Im on strike this weekend, I dont care anymore…Ive had
enough of this!
Traci
My acl was 12.5 last week, this is why we thought the PUMP would be
a good thing …

Their story really is inspiring. Unfortunately, did anyone happen to
    notice this statement in it?
needed to convert food into energy. The reason continues to be a
mystery, although genetics and factors such as obesity and lack of
exercise appear to play roles, according to the American Diabetes
    Association.”
Though these brothers were reported as having Type 1, looks as though
the AP reporter who did this story got his/her facts confused with
Type 2. No mention of Type 1 having an autoimmune component, and to
the best of my knowledge (which I’ll admit is far from exhaustive),
Type 1 has little to do with obesity and lack of exercise. I don’t
know why this gets under my skin so much, but I feel like those of us
in the minority with Type 1 get lumped in with the majority of the
Type 2’s. And it’s no wonder that people in general continue to make
this mistake, when news items such as the one above provide misleading

information and attribute it to the ADA.
OK…stepping down off the soap box. :-)

I have to say that I totally “noticed”. I hope I don’t offend any type 2’s on the group, but the nurse who met my daughter in the ER said you have type 1, people just get it for no reason, type 2, that is the chubby people diabetes.

It is a shame that even the media gets it wrong and keeps the public confused. A “friend” tod my mom when we were diagnosed, “well of course she got it, look how much she likes chocolate!” My daughter is 7 and 4′ 2″ tall and weighs all of 58 pounds fully dressed. it was hard to not kick that person in the shins!!!

    Megan,

It is frustrating, I feel for you. My little one can go to bed with perfect numbers and wake up high. I am afraid to change her bedtime insulin for fear of the days she wakes up normal, those would be low. In the past 7 days we have gone to bed with numbers between 94 and 118, and wake up with numbers as low as 108 and as high as 303. She always has 3/4 cup of chocolate ice cream and the same insulin 2 clear 2 cloudy. I’ve been told with girls it is a hormone rush just before you wake up that causes the high. Ask about it.

we have done 3am checks, her doctor feels it could be due to growth spurts. She has been growing about an inch between our 3 month visits. and kids grow while they sleep.
