sleep sentry

Friday, October 15th, 2004

Hello everyone. I am new to the group. Can anyone give me more
information about the sleep sentry product developed by Teledyne that
warns us of low blood sugar? Thanks in advance for any help you can
offer, Beverly

Need advice… this is long, sorry (concerns t2 also)

Friday, October 15th, 2004

Hi,
I am the proud mom of a 13 year old son who is Type 1, brittle.
And, I am also the wife of a 44 yr old type 2, whose parents are
both type 2, and it goes down the line in his family. My husband is
my 2nd (and last) husband, and not my son’ s biological father.
Anyway, my husband has what you describe, the open wounds, don’t
heal, etc. and I try to get him to understand that they are NOT
good, and to see/tell his doctor. I don’t know if he has or not,
told her, etc., maybe, she sent him home with some samples of some
cream that did diddly. This what you said below concerns me
greatly, and what I guess I need to vent is that he doesn’t take
care of himself, then blames me. ??? That I am supposed to take
care of it and so on… he is an adult for crying out loud. I do
not know anymore how to reach him. He is on ALOT of different meds
for this and that, and he is also, to add to the basket, bipolar.

anyone on the pump???

Wednesday, October 13th, 2004

My daughter Jessica is now on a list to get a pump….
Could anyone let me know how it is with one????
She is gonna be 13 in March and was diagnosed last Sept with
diabetes.
Her sugar levels have been all messed up highs and lows at school,
she takes 25 lantus and the novolog is on a carb counting bases at
school for her lunch injection. But we are new at that and so we
sometimes still using a sliding scale at home.
Her A1c is 9.5 last time it was 7 I think in June.It was 15 or 16
when she was diagnosed.
Any other helpful ideas would be much appreciated. we meet with a
diabetes learning center in Nov. and she may be on the pump in 2
weeks……thanks, Tami and Jessica

thanks!

Sweating as a result of Lantus?

Wednesday, October 6th, 2004

Does anyone that uses Lantus in this group ever experience excessive
sweating, particularly at night? My wife frequently wakes up to find me
sweating profusely, with beads of sweat on my forehead, and immediately asks
me to test my sugar because sweating is often a symptom of low blood sugar
(as we all know). However, more often than not, my sugar level is perfectly
normal.
I take my Lantus at 10:30 every evening, and the sweating starts at about
11:30, and lasts for up to two hours, and then stops completely. Most
strange.
Does anyone else experience this?
Guy

Traci

Traci,

Please don’t give up, I know it is hard, but you can do it! The alternative is not a pretty picture, please don’t go there.

Keep fighting your insurance. I have a friend who is insulin free because of the same surgery. Go to your doctor and ask them to fight on your behalf.

Take care and keep posting, we want to hear from you.

I wanna give up! I hate this! :-(

Friday, October 1st, 2004

I know I dont post alot here, but Im a lurker and I read alot & I
learn alot.
Being a type 1 diabetic isnt the easiest thing in the world as you
all know. But Im so darn frustrated I dont wanna do this anymore.
Sounds like a brat huh?
After speaking to my PCP, he thought it was a great idea for me to
get on the Insulin Pump (which he wears as well) and he sent me home
with a video/information from minimed. (www.minimed.com)…I had
pretty much already knew that I wanted on this Insulin pump, and the
video/information just confirmed it.
After sending in all my insurance info (they do the leg work on
that), I got a call from them, telling of what is covered by my
insurance and what isnt covered…I dont have the $1,600.00 which is
my part. So I kindly thanked her for her time and efforts on
my “case” and she told me they even have financing. I thanked her
