Rhonda,

I don't need a doc. I know what they will say, and I don't agree with them. All I need from them is the script.

My sugars have dropped when I was driving, and I will NOT take that risk with my kids in the car. My sugars will stay high, by my choice, so I don't kill my family in one horrific second due to the lower level of conciousness related to hypoglycemia.

If psychotic patients are free to refuse their meds, and then, (only a select few do this, I realize), go out and commit a heinous crime, that's fine. I have the same right to refuse meds. Or take less of them.

Thank you for caring enough to question me, though, Rhonda.

you can probably get insulin from your pharmacist, but insurance won't cover it if you tell them your story.

maybe your doctor would give you a 30 day supply to get you through to your appointment?

and....why has it been so long since you saw your doctor? Almost 2 years? (sorry I was channeling your mother for a minute)

Thanks for caring and sharing,
Rhonda

Hi Joan, I don't know what state you live in but if you have the old box or bottle from your last one, try different pharmacies and explain the situation. Even if you have something in writing from a physician that says you are diabetic, you should be able to get it. I made sure when I was diagnosed that my dr. wrote a note stating I was Type 1 and the insulin I would need. Hope this helps. Also, I'd turn in your doctor for refusing you to the AMA. That is just plain wrong of him to do.

Take care,
Carol
