		<description>Robby,

I think we might all be affected differently. I love vegetables and eat a lot of them. I try stick to more greens - spinach, broccoli and celery and watch my intake of carrots and peas. I eat yogurt and a lot of fish. Even though I am not that fond of fish. Fruits just don't agree with me but I only really noticed that I had become sensitive to them about 15 years into the diabetes and ate a lot (3-4 servings a day) before then. I don't really know what changed.

   Robby,
I find that my sugar has improved since I cut out fruit almost
entirely. I couldn't eat a banana at all in the past as it made my
sugar rise more than a sugar cookie would. I only eat fruit as an
occasional treat and then only specific fruits (no banana, melon or
   grapes).
My worst reaction is with any sort of pasta (can't touch it).
   Strange.
But also to tell you that after 23years I have no diabetic
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
complications (lucky so far) and I had a thorough physical
(neurologist, eyes, heart, endocrinologist etc). I think my life is
great and being diabetic isn't always the best but life can be
normal. I think the single best thing i have ever done is be
vigilant about my sugar levels which are being diagnosed my Hb -
never ever been higher than 7 and is usually less than 6.

how do you get all of the nutrients you need by cutting out all of
your fruits? what kinds of things do you eat? i absolutely detest
vegetables, so thats why i eat 1 serving a day. i love fruits, so
thats why i eat alot of them. i also eat alot of yogurt. i havent
noticed any foods that make my sugars jump. oh i love bananas and
   grapes!

		<description>Robby,
Most fruits have a lot of natural sugars in them. That is why I
think I don't like orange juice. When I was young, every time I had
a reaction, the first thing anyone did to help was get orange juice
and load it up with sugar. Back then, that was the most effective
way to treat it. I sure am glad things have changed. I used to think
it was very funny, knowing what my diet was like at all the women who
tried to diet eating fruits. They didn't seem to want to hear what I
had to say. One banana serving is half of a small one, how easy is
that to measure? There is no way I am going to cut a banana and save
part of it. I don't even like whole bananas that are starting to
 turn brown.
 Lori
1 banana serving is half a small one? we count 1 banana as 15 carbs.
my dietician gave me this big book that tells me how many carbs are
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
in fruits, vegetables, meats, etc. 1 apple is 15 carbs also, as are
17 grapes, 3/4 cup of blueberries, raspberries, and 1 1/4 cup
strawberries. thats how i've been counting them.

<description>I was told, english or sweet peas is considered a carb. The
vegetables are separated into different lists according to the
sweetness or carbs in them...correct? I just know I stay away from
orange juice, corn, carrots, fruits, very small amt. etc
you stay away from fruits? why? my dietician said i should eat alot
of them, since they are good for you. i eat 2 or 3 servings of
different fruits a day.

		<description>ADVERTISEMENT
Carbs in carrots? I was told that raw carrots are, basically, a
freebie.....virtually no carbs or calories. Did I miss something?
it says right on the package that we have that they have carbs.

<description>When I started to fill up the hungry spots, I chose peanut butter and
grahams for snacks, or just p.b. by the spoon. Helps with the
hungries, whenever I feel hungry I grab a spoon as I pass by.
Salads are good. Green beans by the can help also. Actually, it is
also a matter of time to get used to not eating til you get saturated
fully. I am never "stuffed" and I would hate to be that way, nor am
I really ever hungry. Small meals are the key throughout the day.
You are just getting rid of that "horrible American attitude of
eating, eating, eating....." Be happy. A healthy diet will become
 your mainstay.
right now i'm not allowed to eat anything between my meals. that
means i go up to 6 hours at a time without eating. my dad is
constantly trying to get me to eat his atkins food. i refuse to. it
tastes like crap, and i'm not trying to lose weight. i'm trying to
 gain it.

		<description>Rhonda,

I understand those snacky things for a 25 year old. What does a 44 year old do? Low carb, low cholesterol, low calorie, low sodium? Is there anything left?

<description>check out those new atkins books, they are all about carb free.

 low carb stuff

 cheese puffs

 salad and ranch dressing

 pepperoni and cheese

 bacon

not exactly healthy but will help with those hunger pangs!

 Thanks for caring and sharing,
