Question?

I have a question.
Ok the other night I went to bed and I checked my blood sugar and it
was 335 and I corrected it with the dose I am supposed to use and
went to bad.
3 am I wake up because I was dreaming my stomach hurt and I get up
and am not feeling the greatest. I get up and go to the bathroom and
feel nauseated. Then I had cramps the worse cramps I have had in
years and they hurt too. My face was pale and I had cramps and the
back of my head felt like it was getting warm and I got goosebumps.
Then I took Tylenol because of the cramps then I checked my blood
sugar and it was 223 so I corrected it again and my cramps went away
and my face went back to its normal color and went back to sleep.
Would this of happened cause it was high? But I don’t get it cause
its never happened before when its been that high before.
Does anyone know why the back of my head would feel like it was warm?

I am gonna ask my new Doctor on Tuesday hopefully he has answers!!!
Thanks
Keri

and having the back of my head feel warm that was scary too. Its
never done that before when it was high so I don’t know what caused
it. I hope Im not coming down with anything.
    Thanks

Ive never had a fever when I high sometimes when im high im hyper.
But the other night I don’t know what happened went to bed fine woke
up at 3 am with cramps that hurt and the back of my head was feeling
    warm.
Do you think the head feeling warm could be with something else?
I wish there was a way to cure diabetes then there would be no
    problem like that.
    Thanks everyone!

    Good morning, Keri,

My first question would be your age? I apologize for jumping in with a really personal question, but I know that hormones and menopause can cause some of those symptoms at night. HRT is a biggie (hormone replacement therapy). It seems many times we blame the diabetes for things when the symptoms we have are not related to it at all!

It is good you are going to ask your doc. All of us are different, and experience symptoms of a high or low in our own unique ways, but I am not sure that cramps and a headache are signs of a high sugar level. Sounds more like what I mentioned above or just a stomach virus kind thing. I usually call my primary care nurse practitioner to see if there is something going around to rule out the 24 hour bug.

    When is your doc appointmtent?

    Mary,

Even if your insurance company denies coverage of the pump, you can try a letter to the bureau of insurance in your state. My insurance denied glucagon, saying it was not a necessity. Considering the squad is about 15 minutes away, I respectfully disagreed with that. So, I appealed to the insurance company, only to be denied again. Then I sent a letter to the bureau of insurance in Kentucky, and they spoke with the insurance people. Ultmately, my insurance company will cover only one dose of the glucagon. Hopefully, I won’t need it. But, if I do, having the one on hand will buy me time to petition the insurance company to cover more. It would be worth a try with yours, too, regarding the pump.

    Mary,

Once again, glucagon in US, $105.00. Glucagon Canadian, $60 in Canadian dollars, which exchanges even less into US.

Just a suggestion about the glucagon, Becky’s dietian recommended we keep the little frosting gels handy, they’re 1 carb each, and work real fast. Knock on wood, I haven’t had to use it yet.

Illegally, Catie, of course. However, it has the Canadian food and drug requirements on it, and not the US’s. If you look for Canadian pharmacies online, you may find something. That is how I found glucagon, and ordered quite a number of them. Didn’t even leave my seat to do it. Came to the door.

It is a risk, coming from another country, and mail order to boot, but I am going to see what happens. We have one US glucagon, so my husband will use the Canadian one, and if I don’t come back around within the 10 minutes or so it usually takes, he will just fall back on the US one. IF we have to do this experiment, i will let everyone know how it goes.

    Lori,

You are correct about the glucagon. However, although it says it expires on a certin date, I have some from, um, 1993, I think. My husband used it, and it worked fine, thank Goodness.

I can see how you may feel a need to not get it if you live alone, though. That is defnintely a point to ponder.

Thanks Natalie! Normally when I have high blood sugar none of that
happens. So I don’t know what caused it.
But I had cramps and was nauseated and the back of my head was warm
and felt tingly and I almost vomited but nothing came up. I didn’t
    have a headache though.
    Thanks
