Pregnancy

I also have a question about pregnancy. I was told that I should not
get pregnant until i am completely and totally undercontrol. The doc
said that if my diabetes wasnt under control that i would have too
many complications with the pregnancy. How true is this and how do
they expect you to wait, somtimes it just happenes. Thanks

Hi Victoria, The doctor is right about being under control. You want your baby to have his mommy in the best of health.
It can be tricky if you suffer a lot of nausea and vomiting. You have to test quite a bit. I never waited. I had my last child
unbeknownst to us that we were even pregnant. Once I found out, I found an Endo to follow me with my OB/GYN.
It’s no uncommon for women that are pregnant to develop what is called gestastional diabetes that will show up while you are
pregnant. Being you are already diabetic just means eating right, testing and taking what meds prescribed. I didn’t have any complications
with my pregnancies, not even ankle swelling. My blood pressure rose a little but it was due to the anxiety the dr. was putting me
through with the constant threats of that I wouldn’t carry the last baby to term. He was a real trip! Ended up he lost his mind and is
out of practice. Just remember that any woman with a disease of any kind pregnant can be considered high-risk and do not let this rule your
future for having children. I’m 44 and still thinking about that baby girl I missed out on! ;-) Take care,
    Carol
