Robby
, if you were implying that there are also ‘know it alls’ on this
list, you are off base. We are ALL LEARNING ALL THE TIME!!!! That’s what
these lists are for.
I’m glad to see you didn’t turn tail and run, it never hurts to listen
and take a little advice. I have a son your age and I must admit for as
proud of
him as I am, I know that his mentality level is way more advanced than
most young men his age. He is tactful, compassionate and not so quick to
think that others are trying to do him harm. Robby, you will never make
me believe that somewhere in that 125 lb. frame that there is not fears no
matter how confident you play off to be. We all have them thus we are
all human. Continue as you are, seems to be working fine for you. Just
remember,
everyone has a story to tell, some happy, some sad. We just want to
share what we have learned. I don’t think in any post to you that I said
flat up that you
will croak at a young age. I did say one day you may eat your words.
That simply means, don’t brag you will never be bitten by a dog, your
neighbor may have
been teaching it to bite you all along.
I am a firm believer and have taught my children that it is fine to be
all that you can be and to be as confident as you
can but never assume that you are ‘the chosen one’. Nobody is. Even
saying something in ‘jest’ has been known to come true.
Now, I will give you a horror story to ponder. When I was 11, my mom
who was diabetic on insulin was playing kickball with us kids. Something
bit the
top of her foot. She was very well controlled. The bite abscessed and
there was a hole in her foot for 6 months that you could have placed
your thumb in.They thought they would have to amputate it.
Antibiotics and packing it did finally clear it up,.guess who had that
job? But…….there was one thing that hindered her healing more than
anything. They had her soaking her feet every 6 hours. 33 years ago,
they advocated soaking your feet if you were a diabetic. Nowadays, they
don’t want you to soak them, they want them kept
dry especially between the toes. Your are not to use Vasoline because it
can hold moisture in. You are not supposed to let them be dry, or
cracked. Moisturizing lotions should have not petroleum properties.
See, things change all the time….. But an innocent game of ball could
have cost her a foot. Thankfully, I buried her with all her body parts
and my mother was very obsessive about her health, diet and insulin needs.
May God watch over you, he is a compassionate God.
