Sunday, June 12th, 2005

Robby,

Watch what you say and how you say it. Things can affect your numbers, stress, hormones, illness, activity ( i have a friend whos numbers go UP when she swims?)

Be considerate and listen and learn.

Thanks for caring and sharing,

Feet

Friday, June 10th, 2005

I have a question for everyone… I was told a diabetic has to wear
shoes from the time they get out of bed, till they go back to bed to
protect their feet. Is this true?

Sorry

group and I guess you too Robby for my last post. I shouldn’t
have called you an idiot.
It’s just that comments like the soda pop thing make me soooooo mad.
It’s a constant struggle keeping Maddie in target (80-180). She ran
close to 300 yesterday because she’s fighting a cold (bronchitis is
running rampant in our area). This morning she woke at 168 and I am
happy again.
I hate it when people assume that because you have high number it’s
because you did something wrong. People need to be educated.
Again, I should have had more tact, but, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh I remember the problem with pumping

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

LOL just when I write and say that I can’t think of anything irritating about using a pump I have something irritating happen. I forgot to talk about sweating! If you sweat a great deal the sticky stuff on the infusion site quits sticking. This happened when I was showing dogs in the summers. I am in the mid west and would go to shows during hot humid weather, I would sweat and sweat and pretty soon my body and my canula would part company. My BS would hit the roof and I was in for problems. If I was away from home for the week end I could go through 10 infusion sets! Now that I am no longer showing dogs I have hot flashes (yes God does have a sense of humor). Today I saw that my BS was 480, I had eaten Sushi for lunch and it does have sweetened rice and I figured I hadn’t taken into account the amount of sugar. (each sushi bar has different recipes) I gave myself a correction bolus and tested again in about 45 minutes and got a “HI” reading so it had gone up
significantly. I looked at my infusion site and yeppers hot flashes had caused so much sweating I had lost the canula. Now I am on the way back down with a new infusion set. So that is the biggest irritation for me.
