		<description>Stacey,

Sure have! And the type 2s use glucophage and the stuff that starts with'A' (avandia?) to get the cells more responsive to the insulin they DO produce. That was the discussion when someone was talking about a type 1 becoming type 2, also. Goodness, now that my body knows this, I wonder if it is going to become a type 2, too. Seems it gets everything it learns about.

<description>Hey, now, if type 2's are overweight, then I must be a type 2 and not 1! LOL

So, where's my glucophage?

<description> Dear Rhonda, You would be amazed at the insensitivities I have witnessed working around medical personnel and in my own life.. It's like Joan said, you may have gotten one that graduated bottom of their class or had lousy parents or teachers. I think what drives me nuts is I think everyone should be treated with respect and dignity and that we all should use some decorum in our everyday lives but the world doesn't work that way. My mother (God rest her soul) was a very small Italian woman who drummed it into my brother and I growing up all the manners she could think of. She always believed that we treat everyone with respect and I have made sure my kids are the same way. If one of my son's ever and I mean ever showed the disrespect that Robby did last week on our list, I would have fixed it to where he would be eating his food through his ear. I have no tolerance for disrespect. Also, speaking of the usage of the word 'Fat', I was a chubby child and my worst school
memory was a boy throwing peanuts at me in class. When I ask him why? He told me "All fat elephants eat peanuts, don't they?" I never forgot that. To this day, that man never wants to run into me if he has an ounce of sense! I weighed 75lbs. in 6th grade but I was short!
I looked like a tree stump and I knew it but that was still no excuse for him to do that to me. It's a shame people are the way they are. I am just grateful that my mother taught me better.
Take care,
Carol
when my daughter was in the hospital she was told there are 2 kinds of diabetes, type 1 like her that just happens and then type 2 is "fat people" diabetes. How is that for insensitive?

		<description>Rhonda,

Although it was inappropriate, I can see it happening. As I have stated before in the group, there is always someone who graduated from the bottom of their class from the worst med school in the world with having the worst day with the worst parents as teachers. I think you may have found that person.
