Checking sugars

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Hello Folks…

Don’t forget JUST because you get a number DOES NOT necessarily make that number so…. (ie correct). If you get a number that doesn’t seem or feel correct, test a second or even a third time! There are all kinds of weird things we can all do and not realize it, that can skew the numbers and get me a false reading.

If I ACT on that reading and it was major off… I do more harm than good. So if it doesn’t “feel” right, make sure…

Jeff
P.S. I don’t flinch at any number…. had readings in the teens and didn’t feel it. Turns out the strip was bad somehow. Glad I didn’t believe it….

Thanks Jen,

No offense to Michelle, but I instantly thought “I bet there was no testing going on” or “the numbers were being ignored”.

Thanks for sharing, it helps keep us worried mommies in check!

checking blood sugar…

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Hello Tina,

Irrelevent to me which unit anybody uses… 5 second, 45 seconds, as long as its MY blood… its all “bad” <wg
This is another one of those issues I’ve never “gotten”…. as for less blood… <shrug

But in truth, tiny little droplets, or big drops… see my first sentence above… “as long as its MY blood…. its all “bad”… its “too much” no matter how “little” it is or is not!

Just my perspective for whatever its worth…

Jeff

Hi Coma girl,

What brings you here? Are there some things you need help with or are you looking for the support of people who know and understand what you are going through?

Tell us you first name and a little personal info, we’d love to get to know you!

I am Rhonda from New Jersey and my daughter was diagnosed type 1 in April of 2003. We are doing well and her pump comes Monday and we are scheduled to start it Feb. 16th.

Stress & blood sugar

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

Hi Everyone,
I know right from the start I was told that stress will make blood
sugars go up, do others out there find this to be so in there own
routines? And if it does, what do you do to unstress and correct the
blood sugar issue?
I know that Madelyn is very upset, angry and mad over something, she
has voiced this, she’s not holding it in (is has to do with her
father), but I can’t stand to watch it literally make her sick.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Stephanie

Hello—I am New

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

Hi All,
I was recently diagnosed and am 25 years old. I just wanted to join
the group so that I could maybe hear others stories. I think this
probably was the biggest shock ever to me because up until this year
I felt like a healthy young woman….and now everything has changed.
Initially, it was depressing and scary, while at the same time
confusing. However, now it seems that it is just a part of life.

I feel so bad!

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

Today was so hard on my little boy. He asked grama to give his shot for dinner, so she agreed. She helps with his shots all of the time. Well he flinched or moved as she put the needle in and the needle came out of his arm. So needless to say she had to give him another shot. Then at his snack time shot I ended up doing the same thing. I felt horrible. Its bad enough to have to give them three shots a day but this time he got five because of a little oops.

Can someone tell me anything about insulin pens? Are they any easier to use then the traditional syringe and are they more painful or less painful? Please let me know.

Thanks

Has anyone had any experience with the antibiotic Cephalxin? My Type 1
daughter is taking it for a small infection and her blood sugars have been high
all
week.
