		<description>April- After almost 31 years with diabetes I switched to the pump (4/01). There were definitely some things to get used to (where to put it when wearing certain clothing, the right insertion set to use (first type kept bending and not delivering insulin), counting carbs, getting frisked at the airport,etc.) However, overall it's been the best thing I've ever done for myself and my control. I eat when I want and what I want (with some limitations of course--perhaps which "normal" people should abide by also!). My episodes of hypoglycemia have all but disappeared. I know it doesn't work for some people; but, I personally think it's the best thing since sliced (whole-wheat-high-fiber!) bread!

 Best of luck to you.

   I am a fairly newly dx'd Type 1(Aug 04). I am currently using
   injections(Lantus &#38; Novolog). I am trying to make a decision as to
   whether to try a pump or not. Have any of you gone from pumping
   back to injections? What do you consider the pros in regards to
   pumping and also the cons? How easy is it to learn everything you
   need before using pump. Are any of you pumpers that have used other
   pumps besides Mini Med; i.e. Animas? Do you consider using a pump
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
   to be more of an intrusion to normalcy for day to day life(compared
   to using injections using an insulin pen)?

		<description>April,

 I went back to injections after trying the pump, but I had an issue with my body not absorbing the insulin properly after about 20 hours of infusing. Worked great up until that 20 hour mark. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you are comfortable with the idea of the pump. My situation is not the norm. My doctor recommends the Mini-Med, but I have heard good things about some of the others too. Good luck!
