stem cell on Today show

Did anyone else hear the researcher say “The one disease we know we can cure with stem cell research is Juvenile diabetes.” ?

Thanks for caring and sharing,

It is a moot point. Stem cell research is murder of a human being. If it is ok to sacrifice one embryo for the sake of research, then it would be ok to sacrifice one’s child for the sake of research. Same thing. Who’s willing to make that sacrifice? Not me.

The stem cell research being used is also using cloned fetuses, as well as those fertilized in vitro. And those who allow the murder are just as guilty as those who commit it. Period.

    Steve,

With all due respect, and I do respect you, for you have always had very insightful comments, to take no action is to take action.

I have been diabetic for 36 years. My pancreas is cooked. The key to the ‘cure’ is in prevention, or immediate treatment when it is suspected, while there are still viable islet cells in the pancreas.

As far as those diabetics go who have had it for years, the best option is the Beta cell transplants, This seems promising, but still in the early stages. And, again, if we ‘grow’ humans just for the use of their beta cells, then we are acting immorally. From cadavers, that’s fine! I’d happily take a deceased person’s beta cells! : )

In this I cannot agree to disagree because of what I said earlier. I just took a giant leap off the fence.

    Judith,

I think the answer to your question may lie in whether are aware of the existence of the star, or if we are aware it is out there, we may not know which direction we should be looking……I’ve had some trouble following the discussion today, so I may have missed that point. If there is something else out there, I would love to at least know what direction I should be moving in to find it!

Funny thing; the point of “need” for stem cell
research for JD cure is moot; the cure exists. I
can’t understand why we diabetics & parents of
diabetics don’t hook our wagons to a star that exists?
