Insulin Needles

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Does everyone change them each time? And if you take more than one insulin such as Lantus, and R or such close together, do you use the same syringe, or seperate? I know this is NO NO too, but I was just curious to see what others do.

on the pump they don’t ask for your BS, blood sugar, they ask for your BG, blood glucose, the pump rep said the company felt uncomfortable with the initials BS.

question about insulin

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

My sons blood sugars have been a little higher than average for the
past week or so…..He left his insulin in the car overnight about 2
weeks ago when it was very very cold.( he had taken it on the way to
eat out one evening) I was wondering if the lower temps may have
caused some difficulty for his insulin to work to its full effect. I
know years ago they used to keep insulin in the refrigerator but Im
thinking the temps in the car were at least 30 degrees. Any one
think this may have hurt the insulin?

Never talk politics or religion

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

Hi to all,
I want to start out that I respect other’s beliefs and I hope others
will respect mine. I was under the impression that this was a group
that was to help each other because we all suffer from the same
disease. None of us want to be going through this and I can only
believe that some of the previous postings I have read recently are
built up frustration at the situation that we are all in. But, I do
feel that we have lost the point of this chat group when we are using
it to push our own views down someone else’s throat. Can we agree to
disagree…?
A wise person said “Never talk politics or religion”
I apologize if this upset anyone, but I felt it had to be said. This
group has been of great help to me and I hope it continues to be a
place that I can find friendship.
Goodnight,

Cure involving whatever it takes……

Thursday, March 2nd, 2006

Good Morning Beth,

Very eloquent.

It gets worse dear lady. You are the voyeur, the witness to your child’s nightmare known as diabetes. We… the diabetics must live it. Which is the worse I cannot say… but I know with every fiber of my being there is no “good” in this comparison.

I too find it 10,000% irrelevant where the cure comes from… provided I get the choice whether to use it or not. I do not care even remotely if it comes from a cell, some exotic butterfly in Africa, or whether I need to cover myself in feces and wear yellow feathers (while chanting a horrendous Tibetan tune)… if that is a cure and it is a PROVEN cure… I want the choice.

Anybody who interferes well… the enraged wraith of diabetics is not a pretty thing.

The desperate need for somebody, anybody to provide “relief” from diabetes, it complications, our worst fears, its realities is one reason why so many quack remedies, quack cures as well as the valid alternative methods are so popular. The problem is its very hard to determine which is helpful treatment and valid which is snake oil sometimes. We all want it to go away… just make it stop…

Jeff (bone weary & soul tired keeping his diabetes dragon in her cave for 3 + decades, it caring nothing for his “alacrity” & vigilance)
