Diabetic Bracelets BEWARE of Medic Alert!

Hi People,
This is about the Medic Alert Foundation, and why I refuse to support
them or wear their bracelet any more. I first got their bracelet in
1989. I moved in 1999 and paid the $$ to have the record changed, and
since my brother is my emergency contact person, and he moved and had
a different area code and phone number, that was part of the change.
They sent me a new card and and the paperwork showing my updated
information. In 2003, I moved again, and wrote to them saying I needed
to change my address in their files. They sent me paperwork showing my
brother’s old phone number from 3 years earlier, and listed a type of
insulin that I have NEVER used! It turns out that my medical record
was not only NEVER updated, it was fictional! When I tried to call
them, I was rudely told I would have to pay for the record to be
corrected. I told them it was their mistake and I wasn’t going to pay
a second time.

The bracelet finally broke on the metal tag part, and I threw it away.
My pharmacy had these brochures for a bracelet from Bodyguard in NJ,
and I ordered one and just got it today. They don’t keep info on U,
but engrave whatever U want on the tag, and include a red medical
emblem if U want. It’s $44 for steel, $104 for silver. Go to
www.medicalidtags.com My bracelet has my name and a medical emblem on
the front, and “Insulin Dependant Diabetic” on the back.
DO NOT TRUST Medic Alert to be accurate with your medical info!!!!
