stop taking my insulin
I know, I should give myself the insulin shots every day, 2ce a day
and yes, I know I should be checking my levels. Ive been type one
diabetic for 3 yrs now and Ive had enough. I just dont want to do
this anymore. Am I still in denial? Perhaps…but I stopped taking
my insulin 2 months ago and Im feeling fine, just thirsty alot. I
keep my carbs down & I drink plenty of fluids.
One of the reasons I did stop, was because I seriously couldnt
afford it anymore. Something always seems to come up when its time
to get a refill of my insulin, and I cannot buy it…even with our
insurance. My husband fusses at me all the time, believe me, but I
let it go in one ear and out the other cause I see it as a money
issue as well, he doesnt. Im not a spoiled little brat, Im a good
mom and yes, I want to live to see my kids grow & have kids
etc…but at this time I just cant afford it. Theres nothing more
to “cut back” on…we are at our limit.
Im not sure why Im venting, but I do appreciate your love & support
on this board. Everytime I think about this, I think of yall and
want to come talk to someone.

I know a person who is type 1 and not tested or taken insulin in years. She does the Atkins diet and swears she is fine. However if you are also not seeing your endo how do you know if you are fine?
As a mother of a type 1 this is my fear….denial, resistance, noncompliance…please reconsider you decision…think how you would feel if your child made this decision…what would you tell them?
Thanks for caring and sharing,

I didn’t say I condone it or that she was healthy, just stating facts…type 1 refusing to take insulin for about 3 years now.
