Eating different types of things

[INLINE]

Is it not funny how people are always quick to judge us as being Diabetic.. especially Insulin dependent Diabetics, on what we should and should not eat? They are always trying to tell us something is not good for us, or we should not have to use so much Insulin when we eat something, or whatever… or if we would not eat the Sweets, we might not need Insulin.

I for one, know that every Diabetic is different, and not everyone can eat the same foods, and get the same results… But for me, we are the ones in charge of our bodies, and should we not know what is best.

For me, some foods like Rice are dangerous, and will spike me worse than something sweet… so I know it varies with a lot of factors, which is best for me.

chinese food seems to make us low but pizza is a real challenge as everyone has a different recipe for their sauce and their dough. I have to check the thickness and sometimes even thin pizza will be more carbs then you think. On average a medium slice of pizza is 45 carbs. (from our favorite take out, papa john’s) but if we get it other places we can be very high or very low and we are clueless as to why.

I also have stories of lunch aides saying things to Syd while she eats. You shouldn’t have that pudding, fruit snack or whatever…like they even have a clue!
