My foot

I went to hospital today, fully expecting the works and possible
admission but all they did was Xray my foot.I will not know the result
until my Dr has been informed,I am optomistic.

I visited my doctor this morning because I still have a lump on the top
of my foot that becomes inflamed when I walk,it is also painful.
My GP is a little concerned and is sending me to see the orthopaedic
surgeon. It looks like I have a bony nodule, presumably where the break
    was.
I am not happy at the thought of surgery ,which was
mentioned ,especially with the prevelance of MRSA in my hospital.
I dare say I will have a long wait but,if so,I will be tempted to go
    privately.

PS Kate, could your son just be shy?

    Howard,

Any chance of outpatient surgery with your foot? I know that is pretty much unrealistic, but with MRSA, perhaps the risks involved at home would ultimately be less than those at a hospital.

The MRSA rates at the hospital where I work are increasing as well. They are increasing more slowly than others in the states, but increasing nontheless. If you have to check in, I see no reason why it would be considered inappropriate for you to require staff dealing with your dressing changes, etc, to wear sterile gloves. That simple act could save a whole lot of grief.

Again, just my 2 cents! (shillings?)

The latest in the saga..I have been seen and my foot
inspected, prodded, poked and manipulated. It seems that the broken bone
has set but not correctly, the lump and redness is caused by the bone.I
can expect my foot to swell whenever I use it for the forseeable
future. The answer is as much rest as I can get,I have been told I can
walk my dogs but little else, even sitting here my foot should be
elevated. The solution is two fold, either my foot will become accustomed
to its new design or I will have to have an operation to correct the
    fault.
I am prepared to forgo an operation unless I really have to.
There is nothing nasty going on ,which is a relief, and I can wear shoes
again, but my foot hurts after a while.
    Otherwise I am ok!

    Howard,

Is the lump in the middle of your insole, and your foot has “sunken?” I apologize for being so pushy, but after having my foot misdiagnosed by 3 (yes, 3), docs, I get majorly concerned by other diabetics’ feet. Does that qualify for a ‘foot fetish?” : )

Thank you for your patience, Howard, with one who is, perhaps, too persistent at times. : )

    Have a wonderful evening!

Thank you all for your kindness and helpful information.
    The enforced rest is awful!

    Howard,

I HATED the enforced rest, too. Then I missed it when it was gone! : )
