New and with question

Hello there everyone,
I joined this group a while ago but never got round to introducing myself, so
sorry and hello!
My name is Kate, I live in Bath, UK and I have been type 1 since I was 5 (I’m
now 29). My
gorgeous son Guy is now nearly 5 months old.
I got pregnant with an HBA1c of just above 8 but it was below 5.8% for the next
7 months.
My GP has referred Guy to a paediatrician because although he seems fine he
thinks that
there may be a problem ‘that he just can’t put his finger on’. Although he is
developing
normally he doesn’t always like eye contact and will turn his head away when you
try and look
in his eyes. My GP is a bit paranoid because I’m diabetic and he expected me to

have a
massive baby but Guy was only 5lb 7oz when he was delivered by c-section (as my
insulin
requirements dropped and the baby hadn’t grown much since the last scan). My GP
says
maybe I overdid the diabetic control and made him small.
My gut feeling is that Guy is fine, and he is following a good growth curve, but
if anyone has
any similar situations or general advice I’d be really grateful. He is seeing
the paediatrician
on friday but ifr any of you can help alleviate the sleepless nights between now
and then it
would be great!
Thanks
Kate

    Kate,

Welcome! What a great bunch you have found here. Every one different, every one a Godsend in some way to each other.

I am not trivializing your dilemma. However, please don’t worry until there is something to worry about. I realize that is NOT easy. It takes practice, believe it or not. : )

Take the time to have fun with your son. Have so much fun you wear yourselves out and don’t have the opportunity to worry.

There is an expression that says, “Faith and fear cannot exist at the same time.” Something to think about.

We’ll keep you in our prayers, along with the rest of those in the group. (Mary shoulda taken her laptop with her so she could email us as soon as she delivered!)

    God bless, Kate!

I wish I had words of wisdom but I only have words of comfort. You know your baby better then anybody and trust your gut. I will keep you and Guy in prayer and you let us know as soon as possible what the doctor says. Please we are here for you and want to help so no matter what (in my heart I know things will be just fine) you come to us and unload.

    Thanks for caring and sharing,
